Honoring the women whose leadership strengthens our court and community

Women’s History Month

Celebrating Women’s History Month

Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.

Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.

Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.

Anne Wells

Cleveland Housing Court

Anne Wells serves as a Magistrate with the Cleveland Housing Court, joining the Court in 2024. A graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law, she began her full-time legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Cuyahoga County.

In that role, she represented juveniles in delinquency matters and parents in abuse, neglect, and dependency proceedings, beginning a career focused on public service and serving the Cleveland community.

Drawing on these experiences, Magistrate Wells brings a thoughtful and empathetic approach to the bench while upholding the rule of law in her decision-making.

During Women’s History Month, Cleveland Housing Court proudly recognizes Magistrate Anne Wells for her commitment to public service, professionalism, and strengthening the Court’s mission of fairness and accountability.
