Celebrating Women’s History Month
Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.
Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.
Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.

Magistrate Anne Wells
Magistrate Anne Wells joined the Cleveland Municipal Court, Housing Division in 2024, where she has served the Court in multiple roles.
A graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law, Magistrate Wells began her full-time legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Cuyahoga County. In that role, she represented juveniles in delinquency matters and parents involved in abuse, neglect, and dependency proceedings.
Her work as a public defender marked the beginning of a career dedicated to public service and serving the Cleveland community. Drawing on those experiences, Magistrate Wells brings a thoughtful and empathetic perspective to the bench while continuing to uphold the rule of law in her decision making.
During Women’s History Month, Cleveland Housing Court proudly recognizes Magistrate Anne Wells for her commitment to public service and her dedication to fairness and integrity in the administration of justice.
