Celebrating Women’s History Month
Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.
Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.
Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.

Alia Almashni
Alia Almashni is a Housing Court Specialist with nearly 14 years of experience at the Cleveland Municipal Court, Housing Division. In this role, she mediates cases, manages cases under community control, and supports equitable access to justice for tenants and landlords by providing clear information about rights and responsibilities under Ohio tenant law.
Drawing on her experience as a migrant who arrived in Ohio without knowing English, Alia uses trilingual language skills — English, Spanish, and Arabic — to help ensure litigants receive equitable access to information regarding tenants’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities, supporting the justice system’s mission of fairness and inclusion.
A compassionate public servant dedicated to respect, dignity, and professionalism, Alia enjoys mentoring new staff while continuously pursuing her own professional development to better serve the community.
During Women’s History Month, Cleveland Housing Court proudly recognizes Alia Almashni for her commitment to equitable access, public service, and strengthening the Court’s mission of fairness and inclusion.
