Celebrating Women’s History Month
Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.
Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.
Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.

Women's History Month Spotlight
Sharon Newsom has served the City of Cleveland within the Justice Center for the past four years, contributing to the work of the Court through several important roles. She began as a Journalizer in the 3rd Floor Clerks’ Office before moving to the Magistrates Department as Housing Court Scheduler.
She now serves as Secretary for the Housing Court Specialist Department, continuing to support the Court through steady service, organization, and a commitment to helping its daily operations run effectively.
Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Sharon graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in Communications. Her professional path reflects a strong foundation in service and communication, both of which continue to guide her work today.
Sharon is a woman of faith and a Pastor’s wife. She and her husband, Donald, recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Together, they are the proud parents of three children and grandparents to two grandchildren. During Women’s History Month, Cleveland Housing Court proudly recognizes Sharon Newsom for her dedication, service, and the steady example she sets both professionally and personally.
