Celebrating Women’s History Month
Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.
Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.
Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.
Shakira S. Hopkins
Shakira S. Hopkins serves as a Court Mediator with Cleveland Housing Court, where she brings a strong commitment to fairness, communication, and community-centered problem solving. In her role, she works to assist landlords, tenants, and community members in navigating complex housing matters with clarity and respect.
Prior to becoming a mediator, Shakira worked as a paralegal, developing a strong foundation in legal procedures, case preparation, and client advocacy. This experience enhanced her ability to interpret legal documents, understand court processes, and support individuals during challenging circumstances.
She also served as a student teacher with a nonprofit organization, where she cultivated skills in education, conflict resolution, and community engagement. These experiences continue to inform her approach to mediation and her commitment to service.
During Women’s History Month, Cleveland Housing Court proudly recognizes Shakira S. Hopkins for her dedication to mediation, commitment to community-centered solutions, and service to the residents of Cleveland.
