Celebrating Women’s History Month

Each March, Cleveland Housing Court joins communities across the nation in recognizing Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout American history.

Women have played a vital role in shaping our legal system, strengthening public institutions, serving communities, and advancing fairness, access, and accountability in civic life. Their work continues to influence the courts, the legal profession, public administration, education, advocacy, and the systems that support the wellbeing of our communities.

Throughout the month, Cleveland Housing Court will feature women whose service, leadership, and professionalism help advance the Court’s mission and contribute to the administration of justice.

Markell Davis

Markell Davis first joined the Cleveland Municipal Court Housing Division in 2019 under the leadership of then-Judge Ronald J. O’Leary, where she served with distinction until 2022.

She later returned to the Court bringing more than eighteen years of experience in housing. Her background includes eleven years with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority and three years with the City of University Heights. During her time with University Heights, she served as Housing Administrator and later as Director of Housing and Community Development.

Ms. Davis is a graduate of David N. Myers University. She is the proud mother of three and grandmother of two. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys international travel and values the opportunities to experience different cultures and destinations around the world.
